REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:
Education level:
- Speaks, reads and writes English fluently - Matric - At least second year college and/or has associate degree in Hotel Management
Experience / Knowledge Required:
- Minimum 3 years experience in acknowledged / acclaimed / recognized resorts or hotels. - Minimum 2 years experience in acknowledged resorts or hotels as a Room Service Manager. - Demonstrates leadership skills. - Guest focused. - Outgoing pleasant personality. - Positive attitude. - Strong communication skills. - Good knowledge on Fidelio/Opera/Micros. - Quality service oriented. - Ability to lead, train, motivate and manage a team. - Able to work long hours with minimum supervision.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures the Room Service and back areas are thoroughly clean at all times. - Presents oneself in a way that enhances the overall guest experience, by adding life and energy into each outlet. - Ensures that all mise-en place is correctly prepared prior to commencing service. - Prepares all food and beverage requests within the time parameters set by the resort and always displays attributes of genuine hospitality. - Demonstrates excellent product knowledge of all food, beverage, and special functions held at the resort. - Participates in the service of any special functions or events organized by the resort. - Ensures to exceed revenue budgets set by the resort, through up-selling within his/her own outlet, as well as cross-selling other outlets. - Ensures the resort beverage cost is maintained at all times. - Does regular spot checks. - Ensures that the set up and layout of the restaurants are flawless and reflect the image of the resort. - Ensures that equipment is cleaned, when necessary or according to their schedules. - Supervises the undertaking of physical asset inventories each month. - At all times, acts in a responsible manner, especially in regard to the sale of alcoholic beverages. - Maintains and creates a working environment that reflects a sense of place. - When driving resort’s Golf Cart, ensures that rules and regulations are followed at all times. - Supervises the collection and distribution of outlet incentives. - Generates reports for the outlet and ensures that they are delivered to the correct receivers. - Attends F&B afternoon briefings and disseminates information to restaurant’s employees. - Conducts performance appraisals of restaurant employees. - Assists in the process of recruiting new employees for each of the restaurants. - Organizes and coordinates special functions and events. - Continuously trains and motivates subordinates to ensure resorts standards are maintained. - Assists supervisors in generating work schedules for restaurant personnel, according to forecasted demand requirements. - Delegates responsibilities to restaurant personnel and ensures tasks are completed. - Handles any guest complaint in a professional manner as per Policy & Procedure (service recovery). - Ensures that disciplinary actions are taken, when necessary, according to resort’s policies. - Performs any additional or special duties as directed by a superior. - Maintains highest levels of personal hygiene and grooming at all times, as per standard. - Practices proper telephone etiquette with colleagues and guests. - Ensures that all tasks assigned by superiors are completed, in a timely fashion. - Ensures that channels of communication are respected and information is disseminated to the correct receivers. - Ensures excellent communication and working relationships with colleagues are maintained and contributes to the team spirit. - Ensures that a safe, hygienically fit working environment is maintained at all times and report any concerns or faults immediately. - Remains current on all resort happenings, including guests in-house, arrivals and departures, as well as daily events. - Exhibits outstanding knowledge of the resort, island, atoll and the South African culture. - Knows and applies resort’s Policies & Procedures, including those for the emergency situations. - Conducts a monthly communication meeting. - Conducts a daily briefing prior to service and a de-briefing once a week with team members. - Ensures maintenance work is completed, in a timely and professional manner. - Ensures all fixed assets are well maintained. - Demonstrates knowledge and interest in goals, and objectives of the One&Only brand. - Ensures all activities are carried out honestly, ethically and within the parameters of the South African Law.
